GREEN HELL TRIATHLON: Registration started on Saturday

Nürburgring / Köln, 19th November 2011. The time has finally come! Registration for the GREEN HELL TRIATHLON started on Saturday, November 19. About seven months before the premiere on the tradition-rich Nürburgring, interested triathletes can sign up for this highlight and secure one of the highly-desirable start places.

“Since signing the contract we have been working at full speed and can finally preent the online-registration to the public,” said Uwe Jeschke, who has successfully organized the Cologne Triathlon Weekend for years with his team from Jeschke & Friends.

The legendary race track in the Eifel, commonly known as the „green hell“, is expected to live up to its name.  In its premiere year, the GREEN HELL Olympic (Olympic distance,1,500 meters swimming, 53 km cycling, 10km running) and the GREEN HELL 226half (middle distance 1,900 meters swimming, 95km cycling, 21 km running) will be held over two distances, which can also be run as relays.  The cycling distances will both be longer than the „classic“ distances, due to the local conditions.  The GREEN HELL 226half participants will do 3.5 laps on the „Grand Prix course“, with about 500 climbing meters pro lap, while the GREEN HELL Olympic athletes will ride 1.5 laps on the Nordschleife.

The start shot for the GREEN HELL TRIATHLON will be at the Freilinger See near the Eifel town of Blankenheim.  After the swimming, the athletes must take on the challenging ride to the Nürburgring.  There all participants will face a speedy ride over the famous Nordschleife before the closing run on the high-speed Formula 1 course, the so-called Grand Prix course. All around the triathlon, the hosts and organizers plan a festival with pasta party, triathlon market and finisher event.

A starting place in the Olympic distance Green Hell Olympic is available at an early-bird rate of 59 Euros until the end of November.  Taking part in the middle distance Green Hell 226half will first be offered for 120 Euros.
