GREEN HELL! Triathlon premiere on the Nürburgring

Nürburgring Automotive GmbH and Cologne event managers Jeschke & Friends put on a new sport highlight in the "Green Hell"

Nürburgring / Cologne, November 8, 2011. The German triathlon scene will have a new highlight in 2012. On June 24, 2012, the GREEN HELL TRIATHLON will take place in the Eifel at the tradition-‐rich Nürburgring. In the past weeks the contract between the Nürbergring Automotive GmbH and the Cologne agency Jeschke & Friends Veranstaltungsservice was signed. That signals the start for the premiere of the triathlon in the famous "green hell" of the Nürburgring.

"The myth of the 'green hell' will attract many triathletes," said Uwe Jeschke, who has for several years along with his team at Jeschke & Friends organized the high-class event Cologne Triathlon Weekend „We are looking forward to our cooperation with the Nürburgring. We are working at full speed and will do all we can to make the premiere an unforgettable experience for everyone.“

The legendary race track in the Eifel, commonly known as the „green hell“, is expected to live up to its name. In its premiere year, the GREEN HELL Olympic (Olympic distances 1,500 meters swimming, 53 km cycling, 10km running) and the GREEN HELL 226half (middle distance 1,900 meters swimming, 95km cycling) will be held over two distances, which can also be run as relays. The cycling distances will both be longer than the „classic“ distances, due to the local conditions. The GREEN HELL 226half participants will do 3.5 laps on the „Nordschleife “, with about 500 climbing meters pro lap, while the GREEN HELL Olympic athletes will ride 1.5 laps on the Nordschleife.

The start shot for the GREEN HELL TRIATHLON will be at the Freilinger See near the Eifel town of Blankenheim. After the swimming, the athletes must take on the challenging ride to the Nürburgring. There all participants will face a speedy ride over the famous Nordschleife before the closing run on the Formula 1 high speed course, the so-called Grand Prix course. All around the triathlon, the hosts and organizers plan a festival with pasta party, triathlon market and finisher event.

As of now the endurance athletes can inform themselves on the homepage www.greenhell-triathlon.de  The registration is expected to open the middle of November. A starting place in th Olympic distance Green Hell Olympic will be available at an early-bird rate of 59 Euros until the end of November. Taking part in the middle distance Green Hell 226half will first be offered for 120 Euros.
